So many pharmaceuticals companies are dedicatedly working for developing a vaccine for coronavirus, Whole world eagerly waiting for the coronavirus vaccine, let's take a look at where some of the leading vaccines stand at this point in time. So guys 1st update is from
1) Bharat Biotech
As On July 2, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that they hoped to have the covaxin vaccine by August 15 – but said it was not a deadline. It announced that it wanted to "launch the vaccine for public health use latest by August 15".
So Covaxin is at 2nd part of clinical trial phase 1 after it passes Phase 1 still it should pass phase 2 and phase 3 to become available into market. So the company has announced it will Take still much time to launch.
Also bharat biotech in a partnership with the National Institute of Virology, began recruiting volunteers for Phase 1 trials to test safety and neutralizing antibodies of its Covaxin (BBV152) vaccine candidate in 375 healthy volunteers as of 13 July.
2) Zydus Cadila Healthcare, backed by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), began recruiting for its phase 1by2 clinical trials on 13 July to test for safety and efficacy of its DNA plasmid ZyCoV-D vaccine candidate in 1,048 volunteers. In the pre-clinical phase, ZyCoV-D produced a strong immune response in multiple animal species including mice, rats, guinea pigs and rabbits, and raised no safety concerns.
3) Pune's Serum Institute of India which is the world's largest vaccine maker by the number of doses produced and sold. It has signed an agreement to manufacture the potential vaccine developed by the Jenner Institute (Oxford University) in collaboration with British-Swedish pharma company AstraZeneca.
Serum Institute of india has also said it will begin testing for the Oxford-AstraZeneca covishield vaccine (AZD1222) in India for clinical trials soon. After promising results in mid-July from early trials the experimental Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, Serum announced it will manufacture a billion doses of the vaccine after seeking the required approvals.
According to the revised proposal, 1,600 people aged above 18 will participate in the trials across 17 selected sites, including AIIMS Delhi, BJ Medical College, Pune, Rajendra Memorial Research Institute of Medical Sciences (RMRIMS) Patna, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, AIIMS Jodhpur, Nehru Hospital in Gorakhpur, Andhra Medical College JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research in Mysuru.
Serum Institute also in partnership with US-based Codagenix, is developing a live attenuated COVID-19 vaccine candidate CDX-005, which is in pre-clinical trials as of July 2020.
4) Russia
Russian news agencies speculate that the vaccine, which is being developed by researchers based out of Sechenov University will be launched for public use by August 10.
Clinical trials for the same, which were conducted at the Gamalei Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology since June have shown successful results. 18 volunteers were tested in the first phase. as per experts. A statement released earlier said:
“The safety of the vaccine is confirmed. It corresponds to the safety of those vaccines that are currently on the market.".
5) Johnson and Johnson, which is also involved in the making of a novel coronavirus vaccine has proceeded to kickstart phase I/II of its product. Early data received from pre-clinical trials have observed that the vaccine was tested in 6 monkeys , adenovirus serotype 26 vaccine was abled to protect all the monkeys from lung infection with just a single dose, also 6 out 5 monkeys protected from nasal infection. Sinovac a chinese vaccine , moderna company , oxford University with astra zeneca and Fizer bioNtech all these are at 3rd phase of clinical trial so at phase 2 novavax and few other chinese companies are their. companies including bharat biotechs covaxin still at phase 1 . Next comes to pricing of vaccines .Oxford covishield is expected to be launch its vaccine before end of year 2020. and the price of covishield will be expected to be less than 1000 rupees approximately less than 10dollars in india . similarly Johnson and Johnson expected to be 10dollars as it said they are probucing on non-profit basis. Next moderna vaccine price expected between 4000 to 5000indian rupees under profitable basis. Pfizer and biontech has said price is variable according to countries like so in Netherlands Germany france and italy price will be Between 3-4dollars and in us it will be 39dollars for 2dose.
